appJobber is a product of wer denkt was GmbH, a spin-off by the Technical University of Darmstadt, which has been developing web-based IT solutions in the field of Crowdsourcing for companies since March 2010.

The platform and mobile app appJobber was launched on the market in Darmstadt in 2011 by the founders and managing directors, Dr Robert Lokaiczyk and Dr Tobias Klug. There are now more than 1 million active app installations across Europe.

The service is aimed at companies who commission low-cost data collection in retail and other business-relevant locations via appJobber. In addition to checking their own brand presence, products and promotions in the retail sector, the range of services also includes analysing share of shelf and distribution or the collection of relevant KPIs for active category management as well as mystery shopping, price tracking and product range surveys. Based on the respective objective, many small jobs are sent to users across Europe via the app. They complete the jobs directly via their smartphone and are paid once quality assurance has been completed.

The consumer goods industry, retailers, outdoor advertisers and navigation companies regularly use appJobber successfully to collect data at the POI or POS. appJobber is the winner of the Hessian Founders Prize 2013 and is one of the Top 50 Startups in Digital Commerce ("Der Handel").
